We operate five landscaping teams delivering the build projects, all of our staff are full time employed. We do not sub-contract any of our work and the same team will be on the project from start to completion.

A garden shaped by levels, designed for living.
This Amersham project presented a 2-metre fall from the rear of the house - an opportunity to turn a challenging gradient into something purposeful. Rather than resisting the slope, the design works with it, forming a sequence of connected outdoor spaces that flow naturally from one to the next.
The upper terrace creates a year-round dining space beneath a Biossun pergola, framed by structured planting and considered screening. Wide porcelain steps guide you down through layered borders into more secluded areas - from relaxed seating beside the outdoor fire to a sheltered spot overlooking the pool house.
Porcelain paving mirrors the interior flooring for continuity. Corten steel and timber introduce warmth and definition. Planting softens the transitions and maintains cohesion throughout.
This isn’t just a garden - it’s a progression. A landscape that reveals itself layer by layer, encouraging you to explore, pause and enjoy. One level at a time.

We’re honoured to be APL Award Finalists in the Sustainability & Biodiversity category for Radnage.
Designed by@editlandscapedesign and built by our team at J&S Scapes, this project began with a clear ambition: transform a concrete-heavy front garden with little privacy into a secluded wildlife haven - one that could be enjoyed from both inside and outside the home.
Guest parking was relocated towards the boundary using permeable grasscrete, reducing the visual impact of vehicles while maintaining practicality. The existing concrete driveway was removed and rebuilt with gravel grids over a permeable sub-base, improving drainage and reducing standing water.
Level access was carefully integrated through ramped clay paver pathways - future-proofed, yet aesthetically cohesive.
At the heart of the design sits a pond and wetland system. Downpipes were disconnected from the mains drainage and redirected through a steel rill into the pond, before overflowing into a soakaway within the planting border. The result is rainwater managed entirely on site - while creating habitat now home to insects, frogs and newts - and reflecting light beautifully into the entrance hall.
Large areas of lawn were replaced with naturalistic planting to increase biodiversity and reduce maintenance. A varied tree palette introduces blossom, fruit and berries for seasonal interest and foraging opportunities.
A sunny seating area is screened by planting and bespoke iroko boundary gates - providing privacy from the road while allowing light to filter through.

We’re honoured to be APL Award Finalists in the `Project Value £100,000–£175,000` category for Copperkins.
What was once a tired garden - with an overgrown, forgotten space hidden behind a mature yew hedge - has been reimagined into three distinct, connected zones designed around how the family lives.
Closest to the house, a formal terrace provides space for cooking, dining and relaxing. An oak pergola with a retractable sail offers welcome shade to this south-facing garden, while a gentle water rill runs beside the sofa seating, adding movement and calm.
The central section opens into an expansive lawn for play, framed by generous borders that incorporate existing mature planting wherever possible - preserving character while refreshing the space.
Beyond the hedge lies a more secluded retreat: a secret garden with a garden room built by @soulfulhideaways , fire bowl and a @urbancedar hot tub. A quieter space, intentionally separated yet still connected.
Delivered through a wet winter with limited access, the result feels settled and cohesive - as though it has always belonged.
A garden restructured with purpose.

J&S Scapes totally transformed a grassed, relatively boring area of our garden into a formal, sculptural but really useable area. Whilst the end result is stunning, the way they work is also great. Everything from initial concept through to final planting was really professional. They listened hard to our brief, accommodated and adapted to our changing requirements and included us in all aspects of the project. The team were a pleasure to work with and have kept in touch to see how the garden has developed.
